Archduchess Maria Josepha of Austria was the twelfth child and ninth daughter of Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor, and Empress Maria Theresa. She was engaged to King Ferdinand IV of Naples and Sicily, but the marriage never materialised because of Maria Josepha’s death due to to smallpox. This was hand painted on silk and frame was made in Italy. This makes it a rare and sought after piece.
